Small-breed puppy rehoming in Walton County

Precious Pups places small-breed puppies with families across Walton County, from Miramar Beach and Santa Rosa Beach on the coast to Freeport and DeFuniak Springs inland. Walton spreads a long way north to south, so the practicalities differ considerably depending on where you're starting. Every placement happens in person at the PCB Market stall in Panama City Beach, and we ask families to get in touch first so we can talk about timing. Availability changes from week to week.

Puppy rehoming for Walton County families

Walton is a county of two halves for our purposes. The coastal communities are a reasonably direct drive east along the beach road; DeFuniak Springs and Freeport are further inland and the journey is longer. Neither is a problem, but it does mean the sensible first step is a conversation rather than a trip - particularly if you're hoping to see a specific breed.

When families get in touch we start with the household rather than the breeds. How many hours the house is empty, whether there are young children, whether there are resident pets, and how much grooming you can realistically keep up with. That last one catches people out more than anything else: several of the breeds we place need professional clipping every four to six weeks, permanently, and it's much better to know that in advance.

Placement is never rushed

One note specific to this county: Miramar Beach shares a name with places elsewhere, so if you're searching for us it's worth including Florida or Walton County to be sure you're looking at the right thing. Our stall is in Panama City Beach, in Bay County, and that's where every placement happens regardless of which Walton community you're coming from.

What we ask about first

For Walton families the return journey deserves a thought as much as the outbound one. A puppy's first car ride is a significant event, particularly on the longer run back to DeFuniak Springs or Freeport, and it goes far better with a secure crate or carrier, a towel and an unhurried pace. We'd sooner discuss that with you in advance than have you improvise it on the day.

How puppy rehoming works

Five steps, none of them hurried

The same sequence for every family in Walton County, whichever community you are in.

01

Reach out

Ask about a breed, or just describe what you are looking for. There is no cost to a conversation.

02

Tell us about your household

Children, other pets, the hours the house is empty and the grooming you can realistically take on. This is what shapes a sensible recommendation.

03

Review availability or join the waitlist

If something suitable is placement-ready we will say so. If not, the free rehoming waitlist holds your place with no obligation.

04

Plan an in-person meeting

Every family meets their puppy at the PCB Market stall before anything is decided. Nobody commits sight unseen.

05

Welcome your puppy home

When the timing and the fit are both right, we handle the final steps and stay reachable while your puppy settles in.

The full rehoming process is set out here, and the placement policy covers fees and paperwork.

Each page covers adult size, grooming commitment and the households the breed tends to suit. Availability varies by breed and timing. Contact Precious Pups for current availability.

Communities we serve

Communities in Walton County

The community pages below cover Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Freeport and DeFuniak Springs, written from each starting point rather than as variations on one another. Families elsewhere in Walton County are welcome on the same basis.

Current availability

Availability varies by breed and timing. Each of the nine breeds carries a status rather than a promise for any given weekend, so the page is the quickest way to see where things stand.

Free rehoming waitlist

If nothing suitable is ready, the waitlist holds your place. It costs nothing, commits you to nothing, and means we contact you when a matching puppy is ready rather than asking you to keep checking back.

Planning a visit

Meeting a puppy in person

Meetings take place at the PCB Market, 7157 US-98, Panama City Beach, on Saturday and Sunday. We don't have a location anywhere in Walton County. Coastal families have a more direct drive than those coming from DeFuniak Springs or Freeport, so contact us before traveling and we can talk about whether a particular weekend is worth it.

Family spending time with a small-breed puppy

Yes - Miramar Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, Freeport and DeFuniak Springs all have their own pages, and families elsewhere in the county are equally welcome.

Most families start there. The free rehoming waitlist holds your place at no cost, and we get in touch when a puppy matching your household is placement-ready rather than asking you to watch for it.

No. Our only location is the weekend stall at the PCB Market in Panama City Beach, which is in Bay County. If you're searching online, adding Florida or Walton County helps avoid same-name confusion elsewhere.

Join the free rehoming waitlist and tell us the breed and timing that suit you. We contact you when a matching puppy is placement-ready.

Yes, and it's often a good idea - how a puppy responds to your children is genuinely useful information. We'd just ask that everyone handles a small puppy gently and calmly.

No. Asking questions costs nothing and the waitlist is free. A placement fee applies only once a specific puppy is confirmed for your family.

A secure crate or carrier, a towel and an unhurried pace all help. A first car ride is significant for an eight or nine-week-old puppy, so it is worth planning rather than improvising.
